The Entertainment Consumers Association (ECA) understands and respects the careful balance that must exist between the rights of copyright owners and the right of copyrighted material consumers.
Freedom And Innovation Revitalizing U.S. Entrepreneurship Act of 2007
ECA joins the Consumer Electronics Association, the American Library Association, the American Association of Law Libraries, the Association of Research Libraries, the Special Libraries Association, the Home Recording Rights Coalition, the Computer & Communications Industry Association, and other organizations representing the public interest and the consumers of digital media to support bi-partisan House Bill (HB) 1201, the Freedom And Innovation Revitalizing U.S. Entrepreneurship (FAIR USE) Act of 2007, which would promote innovation, encourage the introduction of new technology, enhance library preservation efforts, and protect the fair use rights of consumers.
HB 1201 was introduced by Congressmen Boucher (D-VA) and Doolittle (R-CA) has sixteen co-sponsors in the House: Akin (R-MO), Bishop (R-UT), Boozman (R-AR), Burton (R-IN), DeFazio (D-OR), Filner (D-CA), Fortuno (R-PR), Franks (R-AZ), Kline (R-MN), Lofgren (D-CA), Pitts (R-PA), Price (D-NC), Sali (R-ID), Souder (R-IN), Walberg (R-MI) and Weldon (R-FL).
